Speculations grow after photo of Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte surfaced on the internet. The photo taken on Friday shows Rep. Velasco and Mayor Duterte having a meal together. Some supposed that the two talked about the House Speakership.
Rep. Lord Allan Velasco will assume the position as House Speaker after following the term-sharing agreement together with Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
Being the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, Sara Duterte increases assumptions that the administration supports Velasco. The president, on the other hand, distances himself on the issue.
The assuming of the position will reportedly happen on October 14. However, Congress clarified that it was "not clear" and that the two parties are still in talks.
