Oppositions stormed after Briones claims "victory" over COVID-19 at class opening

Updated: Oct 12, 2020

An upsurge of opposition from few public school teachers and students stormed the Department of Education as Secretary Leonor Briones claimed that the opening of classes was a "victory" against COVID-19.

Briones, however, guaranteed that her office was acting expeditiously on their struggles.

Public school teachers pointed out that their main dilemma is the decrease of students by almost 50% during synchronous learning due to network problems.

"What we still see as a challenge, of course, is connectivity but blended learning offers other learning modalities if online learning is not doable for them." Briones stated.

However, the Alliance of Concerned Teacher (ACT) is concerned about students' ineffective learning after receiving "disturbing" feedback about modules having errors and missing pages.

Complaints from different student and teacher communities on both online and modular learning modalities continue to increase as they await DepEd's "immediate action."
