The Augustinian Friars of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu on Monday has declared the postponement of religious activities outside the church for the Fiesta Señor 2021 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The particular activities include Penitential Walk with Jesus on the first day of the novena, Penitential Walk with Mary on the last day of the novena, Traslacion of the images of the Santo Niño and Our Lady of Guadalupe to Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu City, Fluvial Procession, Reenactment of the First Mass, Planting of the Cross, Wedding and Baptism, Solemn Foot Procession, and Province-wide Motorcade.
As announced in the advisory, the canceled festivities shall resume on "the upcoming 500 years celebration of the arrival of the venerable image of Señor Sto. Niño in coordination with the activities of the Archdiocese of Cebu in April 2021.”
The Novena Masses will start on January 8, 2021, until January 17, 2021, where the first mass will occur at 5 am every day.
A maximum number of 1,000 attendees will be allowed inside the Basilica in every Novena Mass.
