"ML Tree of Hope" ignites Cebuano Christmas spirit as December starts

Filipinos are known for marking the ber months as the start of Christmastime in the Philippines.

They celebrate the longest Christmas season in the world, such that Jose Mari Chan's "Christmas in our hearts" starts playing as soon as the first September comes into view.

One of the symbolic non-living creatures in this holiday season is Christmas trees.

Every year, the lighting up of M Lhuillier Financial Services, Inc. tree within Fuente Osmeña Circle is what most Cebuanos await.

It has been 20 years since this annual celebration has started, and this year's Christmas is called the "ML Tree of Hope."

The 23rd Christmas tree of MLhuillier has been lit tonight at Fuente Osmena, Cebu City.

Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella, together with Vice Mayor Mike Rama and Mr. Michael Lhuillier (President and CEO Mlhuillier Financial Services Nationwide), headed the lighting ceremony on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

The "ML Tree of Hope" is 120 feet (ft), featuring 22 life-sized angels, complimented by their shiny instruments of saxophones, violins, and trumpets.

Furthermore, a replica of Magellan's Cross sits at the tree's foot in honor of the 500 Years of Christianity in the region.
