French pilot dies after gyrocopter crashes in Argao

A foreign national died after a gyrocopter he was piloting crashed on Thursday, November 5, around 5 p.m. in Barangay Jampong, Argao, Cebu.

The foreigner was identified as Ferrs Kauley - a 65-year-old French Australian who was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital after Argao Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) personnel's immediate response to the incident.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the gyrocopter's fall. However, they are looking into the possibility that it may have clashed with the coconut trees in the area.

A gyrocopter is unlike a helicopter that uses an engine to power its rotating rotor blades. Also, it utilizes an unpowered rotor in free autorotation to develop lift.

It is famous for its rentals in Argao to tour Cebu.

Authorities are already contacting Kauley's immediate family.
