Cebu City Gamefowl Commission led by Cebu City Councilor Raymond Garcia suggests safety guidelines after allowing the restoration of cockfighting in certified arenas at a limited capacity.
The commission recommended that only 50 percent of the arena's capacity should be occupied and that the operation is allowed only up to 10 p.m. every day.
Moreover, everyone must strictly adhere to social distancing and should wear face masks and face shields all the time.
Temperature checks will be done at the entrance of the arena, where alcohol, water, and disinfectants will be provided.
Furthermore, there will be no more live streaming and shouting of bets because all transactions will be cashless.
Grand Tejero Arena owner Nonoy Chiongbian said that he is willing to conform with all the guidelines.
Other licensed cockfighting arenas in Cebu City are located in Pulangbato, Inayawan, and Duljo Fatima.
