CNU opens student portal; grades can now be accessed online

Cebu Normal University (CNU) takes another step towards the 'new normal' as the institution launches its official student portal, providing the undergraduate and graduate students a digital front door to access grades online, among others.

Over the past year, CNU's communications & marketing team - Public Information Office - has been working to build a website that improves navigation for students as it "was conceptualized before the pandemic and was fully functional last September this year."

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the first or current semester of S.Y. 2020-2021 from all campuses can now sign-in to the student portal, including the students who have already registered in the student kiosk before the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

Days after its launch, the CNU Student Portal already received some positive reviews from the student consumers.

Kristel Anne G. Alivio, a third-year student, taking up Bachelor in Elementary Education major in General Education from Cebu Normal University-Balamban Campus, described the portal as convenient and timely.

"It is a great way for the students to know their grades easily online, especially now that it's pandemic... I do not need to go to the main campus para magkuha sa grade slips," Alivio stated in an interview with Mantalinaw.

In a separate interview, Ruelyn Barro, a second-year student taking up Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English in Medellin campus, mentions the portal's functionality where it "allows students to check their grades without disturbing the tranquility state of a teacher."

As of the moment, the student portal only provides viewing of grades and faculty evaluations, which was made obligatory for students to answer before having complete access to their academic results.

According to CNU Data Protection Officer Mr. Omar Roma, the Management information system (MIS) is still working on online enrollment, hoping to add the feature to the student portal next year.

All bonafide students of the institution can now log in to the student portal found at the official CNU website at cnu.edu.ph.
