#CagayanNeedsHelp trends on Twitter after thousand residents still trapped on flood in search of aid

Netizens on Friday appealed to the government, media, and Filipino citizens to aid the flood victims living in Cagayan province and the whole Cagayan Valley, which is currently in deep floods caused by typhoon Ulysses.

Social media platforms are overwhelmed with hashtags #CagayanNeedsHelp, #CagayanValleyNeedsHelp, #IsabelaNeedsHelp, and #TuguegaraoNeedsHelp by concerned netizens who sought for well-meaning people to send immediate help to the residents suffering in the said regions.

Several posts claimed that many people are asking to be rescued as they are already on their rooftops.

Furthermore, most of the posts said that "residents are drowning while kids are crying for help," as rescuers have not yet arrived due to the lack of manpower for the rescue operation.

According to Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba, the intense flooding was caused by the release of excess water in Magat Dam following the typhoon Ulysses.

Col. Ascio Macalan of Cagayan Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said that thousands of heavily affected residents are still in need of urgent rescue.
