BTS wins 4 awards at MTV EMA 2020



Global K-pop sensation BTS bagged four awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA), including the most awaited Best song trophy.


Despite the show being European, South Korean boyband BTS became the most awarded artist in the event, winning the Best Song prize with their latest hit “Dynamite” and the newly introduced category, Best Virtual Live, for their live performance streamed online on Monday.

BTS also earned Best Group and Biggest Fans awards.


RM, the leader of BTS, promised to continue making songs that inspire and gives hope to people.


“We'll keep working hard to be a group that can touch the hearts of people and gives them hope through music." He stated after winning the Best Group award.


Jungkook, the youngest of the group, expressed how ecstatic the members are in making their fans enjoy their latest song, "Dynamite," amidst the pandemic.


“This means so much for us because we really wanted to enjoy this song with our fans in this difficult time,” he said in a video message after winning the Best Song award.


Notable performances in the show include a rocky and Evanescence-ish version of ‘Say So’ from the American singer Doja Cat, an emotional and sultry performance by Sam Smith with his song ‘Diamonds’, the electrifying David Guetta performing a new 80’s inspired song, ‘Let’s Love’ with British singer Raye in Budapest, Newcomer Best Push act winner YUNGBLUD performing his songs, ‘Cotton Candy’ and ‘Strawberry Lipstick’ while wearing women tennis outfit portraying cupids in London, UK.


Other winners include American singer Lady Gaga with Best Artist and Best US Act, Cardi B for Best Hip-Hop, English band Coldplay for Best Rock, and Doja Cat for the Best New Act award.


According to Variety, MTV will hold next year’s awards in Hungary.
