A graphic artist from Iloilo crafted a P2000 bill featuring the late-senator Miriam Defensor Santiag

A lot of Filipinos agreed to newly-crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo's answer that the face of the legendary politician from Iloilo deserves to be printed on a Philippine currency.

With this, Graphic artist Michael Angelo Sarate created a paper currency design that features the Iron Lady of Asia - Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, who was born in Iloilo City too.

Sarate posted his creation on a Facebook post last October 26, saying that its red hues symbolized power and reflect phenomenal women - as to how most Filipinos described the late senator.

Other symbols found in his design is the Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo, which notably is a national shrine, symbolizing the devotion of the Ilonggos; the Hablon, a fabric famous in Iloilo; the Rafflesia speciosa plant; and Senator Santiago’s medal of honor, the Quezon Service Cross Medal.

The said post gained a lot of positive reactions from netizens, with one notable netizen commenting, “Senator Santiago is the best president we never had.”

Do you agree?
