3 dead in Cebu City flood

Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) Officer-In-Charge Ramil Ayuman confirmed that three people were killed during the flood in Cebu City on Tuesday night.

Among those who have not survived were Labiano Detuya, aged 85 of Sitio Creekside, Barangay Lorega San Miguel, and Leonardo Kaka Otto, aged 49 of Sitio Tarcom, Barangay Busay.

Detuya was allegedly on his way down from the second floor of his house when his head bumped on something, causing him to lose consciousness and drown.

Otto went viral on a video where he was believed to be drunk while crossing the spillway, causing him to lose balance and got carried away by the intense flow of water. His body was found in Upper Laguerta, Barangay Lahug, last Wednesday at 7:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, the body of a 16-year-old street dweller, Hansel Dayundon, who has been missing for three days, was retrieved yesterday under the Rahman Bridge in Barangay Zapatera. He was reportedly sleeping on the side of the street when the flood started to rise.

Mayor Edgardo Labella assured the late boy's grandmother to aid the family with burial and other needs.

The search and retrieval operators, in cooperation with the city government, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Bureau of Fire Protection, took time to find the lost body due to blockages such as debris.

Based on the initial records of CCDRRMO, the flooded places include Kamputhaw, Apas, Pulang Bato, Talamban, Zapatera, T. Padilla, Lahug, Lorega, and Bacayan.
